About the Recipe

Paneer Pakora is a popular Indian snack made by coating paneer (cottage cheese) in spiced gram flour batter and deep-frying until crispy. With a crunchy exterior and soft, creamy inside, it's a favourite tea-time or party snack, often served with chutney. Perfect for monsoons and festive occasions, this quick and flavourful dish is a must-try!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cup besan or gram flour

  • 2 tbsps rice flour or corn starch or corn flour (to make crispy, optional)

  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder or pepper powder as needed

  • Salt as needed

  • 3/4 to 1 tsp ajwain or carom seeds

  • 1 tsp ginger green chilli paste Or crushed ginger & 1 green chilli paste

  • Water as needed to make the batter

Cut the paneer into desired sizes.

Incorporate red chilli powder, garam masala, and chaat masala.

Thoroughly mix them in the bowl. Set this aside.


Cooking Step by Step


Step 1

Heat the oil in a deep pan over medium heat.


Step 2

In a bowl, mix together besan, rice flour, salt, ajwain, red chili powder, and ginger chili paste.


Step 3

Slowly incorporate water until you reach a batter that is thick but still easy to pour.


Step 4

When the oil is hot enough, dip each paneer piece into the batter and let any excess batter drip off.


Step 5

Keep gently stirring and flipping them to ensure even frying until they turn golden.


Step 6

Put them in a colander and sprinkle with chaat masala.


Step 7

Enjoy paneer pakora warm with chutney and a cup of tea.
